Best church live streaming software in 2026: the buyer's shortlist

This shortlist compares Flockwell, Subsplash, Church Online Platform, and YouTube using what each one publishes. Flockwell hosts the live video and includes live transcription on every plan. Translation languages and giving start at $129 (Sprout), not on the $69 Seed plan.

Key takeaways

What church live streaming software actually is (and what it is not)

Church live streaming software lets you broadcast services so people can watch live or replay later. It is not a replacement for in-person worship, not a generic social video channel, and not automatic compliance with privacy laws — you still decide who can watch, retention, and consent.

The best stacks for 2026 also support accessibility: accurate live captions, translation for multilingual congregations, and in-room phones so deaf, hard-of-hearing, and ESL members can follow in the pew — not only on the couch at home.

How we ranked these platforms

We used four objective criteria (no paid review scores in this edition):

  1. Indicative monthly cost from each vendor’s public pricing page. Subsplash does not publish a platform price.
  2. Live captions and live translation in the same viewer experience, including phones in the room.
  3. Giving without sending people to video descriptions or separate apps mid-service.
  4. Distraction-free viewing — no third-party ads during your service on your branded watch page.

The best church live streaming options in 2026

Order reflects who we recommend for inclusive live Sunday, not who has the biggest app store presence.

1. Flockwell — best for inclusive live Sunday in one link

Flockwell hosts the live service. Every plan includes live transcription and a set number of streaming hours. Seed is $69 for 8 hours and no extra translation language. Sprout is $129 for 12 hours, one translation language, chat, and giving. Harvest is $199 for 16 hours and two languages. Kingdom is $329 for 28 hours and five languages. There is no per-viewer fee on these plans. There is no free plan.

Best suited for: churches that want captions on the live watch link, including on a phone in the room. Choose Sprout or above when you also need a translation language or giving.

2. Subsplash — church app, media library, live stream, and giving

Subsplash One includes a custom app, a website, media hosting, live streaming, and online giving. Live video can go to the app, the website, YouTube, and Facebook. Their pricing page does not list a dollar amount for that package. It is a quote based on church size and usage. Giving by itself is $0 a month plus card fees.

Their live-streaming page does not describe live captions or live translation of the sermon.

Best suited for: churches that want a branded app and an on-demand library, and that are ready to request a quote.

3. Church Online Platform — free chat around a stream you host elsewhere

Church Online Platform is free, including unlimited services and viewers, chat, prayer, calls to action, a custom domain, and support. It does not capture or host the video. You embed YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook, or another provider. Chat can be translated into more than 60 languages. Sermon captions are not part of this product. They depend on the video host. Their site says the first service can be set up in less than five minutes.

Best suited for: churches that already have a video host and want a free page for chat and prayer.

4. YouTube — best for free reach, not for members-only worship

YouTube has no platform subscription. If the channel is monetized, ads can play before and during the live stream. The page recommends other videos. Automatic live captions are English only. After the stream ends, YouTube can make new automatic captions in many languages. Live translation of the sermon is not a general feature. YouTube has announced a live auto-dubbing pilot for early 2027. Church giving is not built into the player.

Best suited for: discovery and outreach — pair with a dedicated member link (see our YouTube comparison).

FAQ

How much does church live streaming software cost?
Flockwell plans are $69, $129, $199, and $329 a month. They are priced by streaming hours and how many translation languages are included, not by a fee per viewer. Seed ($69) is transcription only. Subsplash does not publish a platform price. Church Online Platform is free, and the video host is separate.
What is the best church live streaming software for small churches?
Seed is $69 for 8 hours and live transcription. Sprout adds one translation language, chat, and giving. YouTube can still be used beside either plan.
Can we use YouTube and Flockwell together?
Yes. Restream to YouTube starts on Sprout. Seed does not include restream. People can still watch the Flockwell link without going through YouTube.
Does Flockwell replace Subsplash?
Only if your priority is live inclusive streaming. Subsplash remains strong for church apps and on-demand libraries; compare goals before switching.
How do live captions work in the room?
Viewers open your watch link on their phone and read captions or translations while seated — same stream as people at home.
Is Church Online Platform enough for accessibility?
Church Online Platform does not caption the sermon. Captions depend on whichever service hosts the video. It does translate chat into more than 60 languages.
How often should we update our streaming setup?
Review plans yearly and after major vendor price changes; we update this shortlist every 30–90 days when tariffs shift.
